Vy & Me at Tao Beach |
I come bearing summer treats! Actually, just one treat, that is of course if you count new albums as treats, then yes, I think treats needs dat plural! A few weeks ago, Vegas experienced one of its hottest weeks of the summer. Fortunately for Danny, Josh, Vy, & me, we experienced it when it was around 42º C (108º F) instead of 47º C (117º F). While Danny gambled, Josh, Vy, & I went to a very overcrowded Tao Beach. We quickly left to enjoy the larger pool beside the day club without sacrificing anything other than a bar only to gain a spacious & cool pool. Sliding into the cold water was like experiencing the best day of your life transformed onto your nervous system as chills avalanched throughout your heated body. It was difficult not to be happy on such a beautiful day, in a beautiful pool, & surrounded by beautiful people.
It’s too bad we only got a short amount of time in Vegas, but it was a fantastic trip & everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Vy especially liked that I made her pasta & brought her Hot Cheetos when we picked her up from the airport. It’s hard to believe it’s almost the weekend again!
Vegas
After Tao Beach, all of us went to XS to see Afrojack. I suspect that no one really reads my posts thoroughly so they miss all of my embedded pictures, so I simplified things for all of you by posting the pictures consecutively.
Mango Sorbet & Other Treats (?)
Cubed Mangoes |
I’ve finally posted my mango sorbet recipe! It’s fairly simple & perfect for the summer. Josh used the mango sorbet I made for him as a makeshift syrup on his waffles & said he thoroughly enjoyed it as a substitution. Sometimes I think he’s just biased because I make him treats. Give the recipe a whirl if you have an ice cream machine & let me know if you enjoyed it as much as Josh!
As for the other treats, they’re just new albums. This weekend is my father’s birthday, so more pictures will be added in due time.

I’m loving your dress. The colour is just perfect! 🙂
I LOVE mangos!
And Happy Birthday to your dad :)!!
Tiff
Thanks Huong! The dress also came in black, but who wants to wear black when you’ve got the same thing in navy, right?!

47C?!?!!! Wow, I’m already excited when it’s 20C..
Nice that you got to see Afrojack. Do you like his music? I used to be a big fan and I went to parties and festivals just to see him, but something has changed and I do not like his music that much anymore..
Tiff
Yeah it was honestly way too hot for me to handle. I prefer cold weather haha, but it never snows in southern California.
Ahhhh yes, I absolutely agree with you on Afrojack. When he first started out, he didn’t incorporate vocals into his work yet & then he did & it did his catchy beats justice. But I think after he really picked up fame in the music industry, his style of music progressed in a different way (David Guetta’s musical doppelganger) that I’m not in favor of. So, in short, I did like his music before, but I’m not a huge fan of it now. It sounds really generic to me..? It was fun to see him live though.

That sounds like a fun trip! I’ve been wanting to go to Vegas again to enjoy all the awesome foods there. It’s been really hot in Texas, too, and a going to the pool or lake sounds good right about now.
You look so pretty in your photos! I especially love your dress 😀
I don’t have an ice cream machine yet, but I’ve been wanting to get one. I’ll have to try your sorbet recipe when I do! It looks yummy. Mango is one of my favorite flavors for sorbets and ice creams!
Tiff
Ohhh I have so many places to recommend to you if you ever visit Vegas again. It’s so full of things to do! Shopping, food, night life, ahhhhh. Can’t afford a trip to Venice? Visit the Venetian & ride in the Gondolas! hahahaha…kidding. It’s worth it to save up money to visit Venice.
Mango is one of my favorite flavors for fruity desserts as well! 🙂 I purchased my KitchenAid ice cream machine off of Amazon for a bargain around $20! It was a steal & it was in one of my favorite colors. 😀 I think it’s worth the investment, especially with this heat. Plus, you get to have such great healthy frozen treats instead of the high fructose corn syrup crap in the grocery stores!

Happy birthday to your dad!! 😀 Your vegas trip sounds really fun and relaxing. I agree, the poolside is usually the place i think about when ‘vacation’ comes to mind. Just being able to sit there, carefree, by the pool or in the water is sooo relaxing hahahah!! couldn’t agree with ya more dear! Looking extra fab in your dress too ^_^

Thanks Joyce! 🙂 Gotta love those pools on hot days!

I’ve never been to Vegas and never considered going because I always thought of it as a gambler’s paradise with nothing else. Needless to say, I’ve never heard of Tao Beach, which is a part of it. I’ll look into the city a bit more and see if my interest in visiting develops.
Nice dress BTW. Where did you get it?
I was about to ask you how long it took for you to cut the mango into smaller cubes. Then I read that it takes ~15 minutes. Not bad. I think the time spent making it is “worth the price” considering the health benefits. Thanks for sharing. 😀

Haven’t you ever seen The Hangover!? Well, that’s a bad example. But Vegas is such a fun city. There’s so much to do there for everyone of any age.
There’s a huge GameWorks for kids. I used to go there all the time with my family & they would just drop us kids off while we played hours there. There’s also tons of shopping & outlet malls. Food is fantastic. Some of the best buffets you’ll ever experience are in Vegas. My favorite aspect? All of my favorite cities in one city! Well, they’re missing attributes to London, soooo they better get on that. But when I go with my cousins & friends, we eat, sleep, & go clubbing. Some of them gamble, but I don’t. I don’t like playing games with money!
My parents went to Vegas that weekend as well & they saw some really great shows. There are so many wonderful performances on any given night in Vegas. Celine Dion, some country singers, magicians, musicals, burlesque shows, etc.
I got my dress from ANGL a while back. They have a lot of cute clubbing dresses. I need new ones haha. I keep wearing the same ones to Vegas.
Also, I hope you try out that mango sorbet recipe if you have an ice cream machine. Be sure to tell me how yours turns out!
Alice (shiki)
Wow, 42 degree! Ugh I think I’ll melt haha I’m not heat resistant TwTv uh, when was the last time I went to the beach xD I don’t even go for a swim anymore (and I mean going to swimming pool kind of swim, not beach ocean swim), afraid that chlorine might ruin my dyed hair and turns it greenish blond instead 😛
Oh, cool dress you got there 🙂 suits you nicely~
I like stalking the recipe section of your site 🙂 and yeay to mango sorbet! Yay to mango, actually.. mangoes are lovelyy~ *o* too bad I have no ice cream maker to make it 🙁
Hey hey chef Tiff, make a recipe involving potato! Haha, I love potatoes but making it mash all the time seems so cliche… also, a puree recipe if you have one~ xD i always blend my cauliflower or pumpkin, i was wondering and curious if you have one too… hah, i am so demanding 😛
P.S: it’s the usual shiki, just changed my nickname to fit my real name better
Tiff
I’m too lazy to find that comment you replied to from your blog, but I just wanted to tell you that I didn’t think you were being rude or anything of that sort!
Oh you bleached your hair right? Bleaching your hair is worse than the chlorine, girl! It’s really hot these days since it’s summer, but I don’t actively go swimming either. Don’t have time!
haha okay, I’ll try to come up with a potato recipe. Since soups are easiest to make, I’ll probably post a recipe on chowder or something. Or just baked potatoes with vegetables or something of that sort. I consume a lot of carbs as is, so I don’t eat potatoes too often!
Alice
Lol dyeing one’s hair is already damaging so hands down, I give up haha yeap I bleached my hair, but I’ve heard people who bleached their hair to go blonde that when they go swimming so often, their blonde dyed hair turned sort of greenish due to chlorine 😛 and since my dye’s the fashion color kind (bright and stuff), I’m scared to risk it 🙂 so I burn calories by treadmill and what not haha
chowdeeerrrr <3 I love chowders! hm, chowder recipes around the internet tend to use cream to make it creamy and stuff but isn’t cream fattening? a lot of recipes use cream for pumpkin puree/soup too, but yea I never did that because I thought creams are fattening :\
Tiff
I’ve bleached my hair before & I’m now paying the price for it because it’s sooooo damaged. 🙁 If I don’t condition it or brush it, it just looks as though I’ve stuck a fork into a socket. It’s gotten a lot better though. Since my hair is so sensitive to chemicals these days, I didn’t dunk my entire head into the water (plus I was wearing make-up ahaha). I think you can still enjoy the poolside or the ocean if you just put your hair up! 🙂 Solutions for you! There are cute little hair caps too. You know, the ones with flowers on them that are reflective of the 50s/60s!
Yes, you’re correct! A lot of chowder recipes (if not all unless they’re vegan) require that you use heavy cream. I’ve only made chowder with heavy cream twice & I thought it was just too much. I actually have used half & half, but I don’t drink milk since I became a pescetarian 3 years ago. I generally stick to almond or coconut milk. You can still get a great consistency with a bit of a nutty flavor using almond milk. So instead of whisking heavy cream, butter, & flour, you can use almond milk, alternative butter (NOT MARGARINE, to be honest, butter is better than margarine anyway so if you don’t have any vegan alternatives or something, just use real butter), & whole wheat flour! I’ll make a chowder this weekend for the rest of my week. Do you have any requests? Clam chowder? Potato leek? Corn?
Ivy
You look really cute! 😉 Looks like you had a lot of fun too! I have yet to go to Vegas since turning 21. I kind of want to go just to walk around a gamble a bit. Clubbin’ is not really my scene, maybe it would be if I was more outgoing?
Happy belated birthday to your dad! 🙂
Tiff
Thanks, Ivy! I think if you’re into EDM, then the nightlife activities would be really enjoyable. Even if you’re not a fan, it only takes a few drinks to get yourself in a good mood, right? Always depends on you & the company you’re with.
Kalliste
Ooh, I love the straps on the black bikini! One day, maybe I’ll own and be able to wear something like that 😛 sounds like you had a great time. 47 degrees is crazy though! Glad you were able to miss it.
Tiff
I’m sure you can, girl!
Holly
I’m so jealous that you get to go to Vegas so often! Visiting Vegas is on my bucket list. 🙂
I love sorbet so I’m really considering giving that recipe a go. It looks so yummy!
I love your Ray Bans by the way. 😉
Tiff
Baha well you got to go to…Spain? Portugal? Where’d you goooo? How was it? That’s definitely on my bucket list & I’m jealous you got to go!!
Let me know how it turns out! 🙂 & thanks for the compliment. 😀 I love them tooooo.
Holly
Yeah, Portugal. But I am going to Spain in January. 😛 But that is with university so it’s a working holiday.
I had a lovely time thank you. 🙂 The are some pictures if you take a look at my previous blog entry.
Tiff
I am 50 shades if green with envy, girl! Your blog was the one I forgot to visit, d’oh!! I knew I forgot one, sorry, Holly! I’ll stop on over after my exam this Friday to stalk your pictures & what not.
Jessica
I hope that your dad had a great birthday, and I absolutely adore your dress.
Tiff
Thanks Jess!
Becca
Aw, it looks like you had a lot of fun! I really like your dress – you look great! 🙂 I’ve never been to Vegas, but it is definitely on my to-go list. One of these days I’ll go!
Tiff
Thanks Becca! It’s definitely fun! It’s not a place you visit for more than a weekend though. There’s a lot to do & tons of things I’ve yet to do, but still, not somewhere you’d want to stay for more than 3 nights. Fun though! Everyone that can should visit Sin City for the experience!
