Soleil (translates to sun), a French-Canadian restaurant in Westwood, did not disappoint at all. Their poutine was filling & delicious. Their pumpkin ravioli & creamy sauces were flavorful without knocking out your taste buds with a blast of cream & salt. On the weekends, they have bottomless mimosas for $15! Those French-Canadians really put the best twist on fries. I’m really glad Alex was game to come try this restaurant out with me when he came to visit me in Westwood!
Spring is almost over & summer is finally approaching. My birthday (May 30) is almost here & I’ll be turning 22. Although I’m still in my early 20s, I can’t help but feel like I’m going to be 30 before I know it. Ahhhh time, slow down. Well, at least the weather is starting to really warm up. I’m really in need of a Vegas pool party; dancing to EDM with beautiful people & soaking up the warm weather, what better way to relieve stress? Unce unce unce unce unce.
As a college student on a budget, soup comprises most of my diet since it gets you full without spending too much money & is quite healthy! Although the health factor depends on the ingredients you use, obviously. I used a slice of whole wheat bread from Whole Foods in place of a french baguette & vegetable broth instead of beef, since I’m a pescetarian. I did use Gruyère cheese, which is the traditional French Onion Soup ingredient. The first layer of cheese is melted, but for presentational reasons, I sprinkled on grated Gruyère cheese. I will be adding this recipe soon enough!
Thanks to Goodreads, I’ve been inspired to constantly update my progress with my New Year’s Resolution & personal goal to read 40 books this year. Thus, I’m on a huge book binge. I can’t seem to stop reading. Although I have thousands of eBooks,–in ePub format, the best format ever, in my personal opinion–I recently bought some books I don’t have in ePub format. These new books include: The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene, Brida by Paulo Coelho (author of The Alchemist), Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, & The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende. I don’t even know if I’ll finish these books this year on top of my current reading list!
At the beginning of this quarter, I finally got my hands on the white iPhone 4S. A huge step up from my old phone (purchased in 2008), which was the G1 by Google, an Android phone. Huge thanks to my wonderful parents for spoiling me rotten. ♥ Now I have an iPile consisting of an iMac (not pictured), Macbook Pro, iPod Classic circa 2008 (not pictured), iPhone 4S, & an iPad. The latter has promoted my book binging to another level.
It’s Week 3 & my first midterm is this Wednesday, but I’m updating this just for Ben. However, I managed to squeeze in a bit of fun this weekend on Sunday at the Santa Monica’s Farmers’ Market with some friends. The album from our trip to the market can be found here. Ben & I also went to his favorite sushi restaurant, Sushi Stop in West LA.
I also leave you with this, a short clip of what Ben’s & my humor is like, in 20 seconds.
