The Roman Baths |
You guys…I have some trivial first world problems: too many pictures to sort through & not enough space on my laptop to store the originals. WHAT DO I DO?! I should’ve brought my external hard drive. Guess I’ll have to buy a USB stick capable of storing at least 10 GB of things. Or buy 2 with 5 GB memory. What the heck is taking up so much space on my laptop?! Whatevs, onto Europe stuff.
The first session of my study abroad program is over already. I haven’t received a grade for my Harry Potter paper yet or for the class, but let’s hope I earned an A.
Less talk, more pictures. Here’s a ginormous photo dump for you to browse through to promote lingering for longer than 5 seconds. Hover over the images for a caption.
Bath, England
Olivia & I toured the Roman Baths & then walked around the city. We also paid to enter the most adorable & beautiful park/garden we’ve ever seen! There’s way too much history to read about the Baths in the museum, so I just took pictures of the descriptions & moved on so we could have more time elsewhere. The water is actually incredibly warm & we were allowed to try it at the end of our tour. It tasted like warm copper water…if you’re into that, I’m sure you’d love it. Otherwise, blagha;lsdkjfl;zjxcv!
Brighton Nightlife
I love Brighton! There’s so much to do & so many things to try. Here’s what a night out on the town looks like.
Over 400 New Pictures Added
Paris, Versailles, random Brighton outings, Venice, & Italy pictures later!
Liza
Wow! Did you not expect to take so many pictures?? 😛
So… are you not going to school there? I’m kind of confused, because you always seem to be touring instead of doing school stuff and studying. 😛 Nevertheless, I still love the photos!
And… the water is clean? Do people never put their shoes/feet/etc. in it then? I sure hope not. P:
The drink menu looks SO cool. 😛 I love how it kind of shows pictures of everything, and it makes me wonder if they actually look like that (or similar) in reality. :p Yeah, probably not, but that’s my lame mind. 😛
I LOVE THEIR CARS. And the garden place/thing. Either you always take great photos, or you just don’t post the bad ones/ones you dislike/etc. The person in the second to the last picture of the bath gallery looks like she’s flipping you off. o.O
Tiff
It’s not that I didn’t expect to take so many pictures, that I did anticipate. I just over estimated the amount of space I have on my laptop. I have 320 GB of space on my HD, but had less than 16 GB of free space when I brought it over. I guess I just didn’t think all of my pictures would take up that much room. It’s okay though, I got it figured out. I’m just uploaded the originals onto my server.
The drinking water they let us try came out of a faucet. It wasn’t the same water that flowed into the larger area, obviously, since that would be disgusting. There’s tons of bird feathers in that one. You’re not allowed to even touch the water otherwise.
There were some pictures of the shots & they were very similar to the pictures. There were a few rainbow ones that didn’t look too similar though. Only natural.
The garden park was absolutely gorgeous! I don’t throw out that many pictures to be honest haha, but thanks! I’m my own harshest critic so I always think they suck. & the random couple I took a picture of was just necessary because they were just hanging out their windows staring down onto the street. I’m pretty sure she was totally flipping me off though hahahaaha

Oh yeah forgot…hahaa yeah well I’m studying abroad for 8 weeks & staying an extra week to travel more. The first session (4 weeks), I only had classes Tuesday & Thursday. The second session, I have classes Monday-Thursday. The school made it a policy that we only have classes until Thursday because Friday-Sunday would be travel time for us. It’s really nice, so of course I have tons of time to travel & have fun. It’s summer school, but I’m not taking devastatingly difficult classes. None of my classes have exams! Just final papers! So it’s fortunate for me, not so much for those taking physics though.
Erin Nicole
WOW! Lots of pictures. Hahahhaa I’ve never taken so many pictures of one event in my life! Hahahaha
Looks like you are having fun there. 🙂 My sister just went to Europe with a group of people and toured tons of places including Great Britain. She had a lot of fun there.
Are you going to school there now? If so, lucky duck! 😀
I see that you are hosted by HostGator, if you ever have any issues with them, please think of me, I’d be happy to host you. 😀
Everything looks so pretty there. I think I may want to visit it someday. hehe(: I’m really not much of a traveler (*cough though I travel every year cough cough*) so I am not sure when I would have the money to travel there.
Tiff
Ah well, I have a thirst for adventure so I enjoy traveling. My parents always took me on their travels, so it’s really nice to travel on my own…with their money of course. Really spoiled haha. If you ever do save up the money, you really should travel to Europe. It’s breathtakingly gorgeous & amazing. The food (not in England) is fantastic & it’ll be a trip you’ll never forget.
Well, I did pay a pretty penny for my camera, so to let it sit & not capture everything would be a terrible waste. When I had a point & shoot, I hardly took pictures of much because the quality was so mediocre & I didn’t really enjoy using it.
Plus, it’s not every day that I get to be in Europe & this study abroad program is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. I really doubt I’d be studying abroad when I’m Medical school, so I have to capture everything! Your sister must’ve had tons of fun. Europe is fabulous!
I’m only studying abroad for 8 weeks & then taking an extra week to travel. I kind of wish I could stay an extra two weeks though.
Thanks for the offer, Erin, but I have to politely decline. I’ve had websites for nearly a decade & too many horrendous encounters with non-professional hosts that I could never go back. HostGator is amazing. I’ve had 0 problems with them & I can contact them 24/7. No individual can beat that. I also pay a pretty penny to be hosted by HostGator, but I feel that in the end, it’s worth it.

Pictures overload! Hahas…well, at least you know that next time you’ll need to bring your external when you travel!
Is the bath water supposed to be green? When we see green water here, it’s pretty disgusting.
The Night Life seems pretty fun too! If your Vodka Tea wasn’t so strong, I’ll probably try it.
Continue to have lots of fun!!
Tiff
Water has a natural tint to it & is actually naturally blue-green. That’s actually why the ocean is blue-green. Not because it reflects the sky or outer space, but because water, in large amounts, has a natural color of being blue-green.
So, is the water supposed to be green? ….yes. It’s a beautiful color. I think I’d be worried if it were clear because it’d be artificial & unnatural. Google “Switzerland lakes” & be amazed. Or even Lake Tahoe.
Anyway, the water in the large pool area is not potable & since it’s out in the open, it’s got tons of bird feathers & random trash in it, but that’s not the same water we were allowed to try. We weren’t allowed to even touch that water.
The Vodka Tea drinks were that club/bar’s speciality. It’s not like a common drink you can have anywhere in the states, especially since its presentation is alone, unique. I don’t even remember what was in it, but it was really good. Not difficult to recreate, but it’s not a universal drink that all bars know how to make, like Amaretto sours, Cosmopolitans, Mojitos, etc. Those are universal, every bar knows their ingredients. Vodka tea? Not so much.

England is so pretty… but there are no jumping photos! What happened? Haha.
It looks like you had a great time in Brighton. There’s a town named Brighton near me, haha.
Tiff
hahaha I noticed that too! What a surprise. No jumping photos. There are more in the Paris & Italy albums though. Soon to come!
Lots of towns & cities are named after some town/city/region in Europe. No surprise there!
alex
I hope you did well on your harry potter paper (sounds awesome)!
Lovely photos!! The place looks so pretty~! But why is the water green? LOL
Glad you’re having an awesome time in Europe though! Makes me really wanna gooooo too, but I must tackle Hong Kong firsttttt!!!
Ahhhh! Get a dropbox account or a skydrive account (on hotmail)! Maybe you can upload some of your files onto your domain too? I know your pain about running out of space 🙁 I hope this helps!
Tiff
You know, you are probably the second person that’s asked me about the water being green. I just don’t get why it’s weird that it’s green to people. I figured most people would think, “whoa, it’s so pretty that it’s a different color!” Water comes in so many different shades of blue to green to brown, that it’s just kind of obvious why it’s green! It’s just its natural color. Its color is affected by the minerals, its environment, & water’s natural color.
I have a dropbox account. It’s still on my computer though…like, I can upload whatever to it, but the pictures are still on my computer so that doesn’t do me any good. There’s also not enough room on my account. Before I saw your comment though, I decided to just compress the folders & upload them to my server. Thanks though!
Georgie
LOL omg. I lugged my external to Indonesia but thankfully most of my crap fit on my laptop. I don’t have that many photos to share though, most of them turned out crap ):
Loving the photos! Your lips look lush <3
Tiff
Ahh that’s too bad! I regret not bringing my external!!!! Although it really isn’t too great to bring around since your suitcases get tossed around so much & the padding with all the clothes might not be enough. Bah, it’s okay though. I’m just uploading all of the originals to the server.
Still going to stalk your site to see the photos from Indonesia though.
tiff
Ah, that’s the worst. I hate it when I run out of memory. I can’t wait to see the day when we can fit our whole lives to a little Micro SD card. Uh, well, hopefully we’ll be alive when that happens, ’cause I already have a whole bunch of shit that that needs more storage.
Your beautiful photos never let me down! And it really makes me want to travel again. I especially love the blue and white stripped lawn chairs…was it already there by default? Or did you guys happen to bring it with you? Haha.
Tiff
hahah I wish we had blue & white stripped lawn chairs. Those were so awesome. They were actually just there for anyone to sit in. ’tis how posh the gardens in Bath are! I’m glad I’m inspiring a travel bug. Buy a car first, then you can do da travelz.
I refuse to believe that my life can be truncated into a micro SD card unless this SD has the ability to store 5 TB of space!! I’ll be satisfied with my life then. I figured my life could be summed up in pictures & journal entries.
Michelle
… WOW! The photos are absolutely amazingly beautiful. I’ve always wanted to visit Europe. You are doing a study programme over there? I’ve always wanted to sign up for one and get away from SA for a bit, but am so doubtful still.
Ha ha, sorry about the storage issue – shaaame :/
Tiff
Thank you! You should definitely try to get into a study abroad program if you can. It’s incredibly expensive though, especially since Europe is expensive in general. I hope you can experience a study abroad program one day, wherever it is. It’s really a once in a lifetime opportunity!!
There’s nothing to doubt if you have financial support!
Lynn
Every time you update I get more and more jealous! I WANT TO GO TO EUROPE! I also want to go over to the mall and get myself a blue blazer now!
“I have some trivial first world problems: too many pictures to sort through & not enough space on my laptop to store the originals.”
Ahahaha yesss. First world problems are always entertaining. This probably a pretty lame suggestion but you could put the originals on a flash drive? They cost about 12 – 15 dollars and hold a lot of data.
Tiff
Aw haha if you can afford the trip, by all means, make a trip to Europe! bahaha my blazer. I’m obsessed. I bought one back home & then I bought 2 more while here.
On the flash drive, that’s what I meant by the USB sticks, but I solved my problem. I just uninstalled a game I won’t be playing since I’m studying abroad & it cleared up 20 GB of space so I’m good for now. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Carrie
Beautiful photos you’ve got here! I need to purchase a top notch camera so I can go around and take photos of myself, my family, nature, my city, etc.
Brighton looks very lively and amazing! Looks like you had fun girl 🙂
Tiff
Ah you don’t always need a DSLR to take great pictures! They’re worth buying for the fantastic pictures, but they’re a hassle to lug around or to just understand. I took a photography class to learn more about SLRs (our class used film, not digital) so that really helped. But you could just read a manual & that’d be sufficient enough.
Had tons of fun! 🙂
Sunny
Hi, Tiff!! I’m back 😀 Those picture are absolutely STUNNING!!! I would love to visit Europe one day!!!! It’s so vintagey haha, I like it. 🙂 So for the Roman baths, do they actually let people take baths in it?! :O You’re so lucky you get the chance to study abroad!! I really want to get the chance to study abroad sometime too 😀
Tiff
Hi Sunny! Welcome back! 🙂 Thanks for the compliment!! Europe is pretty amazing. A lot of the cities do their best to keep the same architecture (so they don’t modernize it) to keep it historical.
& no, the Roman Baths are a historical landmark/site/museum, so no one is allowed to touch the water or bath in it (it’s filthy anyway). It’s there just for tourism & to keep history alive.
I hope you get to study abroad one day! It’s a fabulous experience. 😀
