Mango is one of my favorite fruits & is great for making sorbet with. This recipe calls for an ice cream machine maker, so make sure to prep it before attempting the recipe. This frozen dessert is the perfect treat for the summer & delicious. The only extra sugar we’ll be adding to this recipe is that from alcohol! Essentially you can use any types of mangoes for this recipe, however, I absolutely recommend that you use Nam Doc Mai mangoes.

- Total Time: 270
- Yield: 1 1x
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 or 5 Nam Doc Mai mangos, cubed
- 4 ounces or shots of Mango Absolut, Mango Malibu, or any Mango flavored vodka/rum
- 1.5 ounces or shots of Peach Cîroc, Apeach Absolut, or Bacardi Peach Red
- 1/2 lemon
- Lemon zest
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- 1. Wash & halve the mangoes as best you can. Separate the core seed & remove as much of the meat from it as possible, setting it aside in a container. Slice & cube the mangos & place them into the same container.
- 2. Add the alcohol, cover the container, & let it sit in your refrigerator overnight or for 2 hours.
- 3. After the mangoes have sufficiently soaked in the alcohol in the refrigerator, empty the container into a blender. Squeeze the juice from the halved lemon into the blender with a pinch of salt. Blend the mangos until you achieve a very smooth consistency. Taste test the mixture to see if you need to add more or less salt or lemon. If the mixture is too salty, add more lemon zest & a teaspoon of honey. Place the mixture into the same container it was in & leave it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- 4. Transfer mixture over to your ice cream machine & follow its instructions. My KitchenAid ice cream machine only took about 20 minutes to turn the mixture into sorbet. Times may vary.
- 5. Scoop your sorbet out of the machine & enjoy!
Notes
- Kid Friendly Tip:
- Instead of using alcohol, try using freshly brewed mango green tea with 3 tablespoons of honey or mango juice. Honey should not be consumed by infants under 1 years of age. I don’t know why you’d ever feed an infant mango sorbet though.
- The KitchenAid ice cream machine takes 4-6 hours to freeze completely, but I prefer to leave it in the freezer overnight. It’s better to prepare the ingredients the day you prep the machine so that you can just dump the mango mixture into the machine when it’s done freezing.
