Amsterdam & Zaanse Schans

Kaitlen, Jessica, Mercedes, & me at the I Am Amsterdam sign.

A few days ago when I went through these pictures from Amsterdam, I texted Mercedes to tell her how much I missed our trip to the Netherlands. I started laughing at so many of the pictures I took remembering the stories behind all of them & it made me wish we had more time together there. Who knew 9 weeks would fly by so fast?! As much as I love California, nothing here beats traveling around Europe with your friends. If only time machines existed…

Amsterdam

So our trip to the Netherlands was amazing. Amsterdam is absolutely beautiful. It gets this reputation for being a free zone to do whatever the hell you want (drugs & prostitution are legal & the drinking age is 16), so it is often overlooked that it’s a gorgeous city that isn’t out of control. Quite the contrary; it’s a safe city where almost everyone bikes around!

Zaanse Schans

An adorable neighborhood in Zaandam in North Holland with historical windmills & houses. I bought tons of their homemade cheese home for my parents. So amazing. Zaanse Schans is absolutely gorgeous. Green for miles, pretty windmills, & canals.

You and your amazingly beautiful travel pictures! What other countries do you plan to visit in the future?

And those fries look so mouthwatering, what’s the yellow spread?

The clogs is probably one of my favorite pictures in this post. It’s just, who knew they come in so many different designs and colors? Crazy cloggers.

Thanks! I’m hoping to travel to NYC in December for a college tour (graduate school). I honestly want to go back to Brighton next summer. I feel like I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to see. Planning on Spain, Switzerland, Germany, & other European countries in the future. Totally would love to go to Fiji or Bora Bora for a honeymoon though ahaha.

Oh yeah, the sauce on the fries is a mayo sauce. It’s their specialty in Holland. 😀 It’s not like the mayo we’re used to, it’s a lot different, but betterrr.

Hi there! I’m planning a trip to Zaanse Schans. How long do you suggest I set aside for this place? Hope you can advise. Thank you so much!

GREAT PICTURES by the way! 🙂

Hi Rachel, I was only in Zaanse Schans for a few hours. It’d guess I’d set aside half a day for it since its appeal are the windmills, the cheese, & the scenery. I’d recommend that you see the place during the daytime & adventure over to Bruges for more. Amazing food, chocolate, & architecture there. It’s a must-see! Thanks for stopping by!
