Weekends in LA

Ten Ren’s Sweet Melon Tea with Boba

These past few weekends in LA with Ben, Jane, Josh, & other special guests have been some of the best well spent weekends of my summer thus far. We’ve all tried some new food, seen new places, learned new things, laughed (live, laugh, love, you GuYsSs), played with cute puppies, played Hobbit on our phones (umm everyone should download this & play with me), blamed each other for being Mafia, subjected to Gerald’s horrendous dog farts, etc. I’m only glad summer is ending because it’ll get cooler. Let’s just say the abominable snowman is my spirit animal because I certainly am not adapted to anything above 25º C (77º F). That perspiration on my skin isn’t sweat, those are tears from my body crying from melting, equivalent to a toddler crying because candy was banned from the household.

Last Saturday, Josh surprised me by taking us to the 626 Night Market, which is a huge event full of hundreds of stalls selling food, goodies, art, drinks, & accessories. The vendors are predominantly of Asian cuisine, which is obviously my favorite–pretty sure there are more pictures of sushi than of people on my website, but I swear I have friends–& Josh’s infatuation with boba & noodles were certainly entertained.

Mandarin Noodles

We also did a bunch of other things:

Stuffed Jalapeño from Sushi Stop

Josh & Me at the Getty Villa

Ben excited for ramen at the Tsujita Annex

Ben & Jane at the Brentwood Farmers’ Market

The four of us went to the Brentwood Flea Market, the Brentwood Farmers’ Market, Tsujita Annex, & Sushi Stop, sweating our little hearts out in the heat & rewarding ourselves with delicious food afterward. Although the ramen was delicious, it certainly made us significantly hotter than before. More adventures soon with my favoritestestest people!

New Albums

  • Brentwood Farmers’ Market
  • Tsujita Annex
  • J. Paul Getty Villa
  • Brentwood Flea Market
  • Sushi Stop
  • 626 Night Market

I really messed up my settings when we were at the Farmers’ Market so I tried to hide my poor photography skills with my Photoshopping skills, hey-oh! Also, I’m growing weary of the pink that consumes my layout. I’m thinking of changing the colors to either a mint green color or a Tiffany Blue color. I’d love to hear your opinions: mint green for a fresh change or a Tiffany Blue color because I’m obsessed with it & because the color’s name is my name? Let me know down below!

I wish it’d get cooler where I’m at! It’s still getting over 100F here, and I’m soooo looking forward to autumn.

Ooh, the 626 Night Market sounds fun. I like places where I can browse a bunch of stalls 🙂 The food at Tsujita Annex also looks really good too!

The Getty Villa looks so pretty! It like all the details on its walls and ceilings. I also love seeing ponds with lotus flowers, since they’re my favorite 🙂

I feel like I see blue a lot in designs. Green might be a nice change!

I would melt & cease to exist, or just pass out because I’m such a baby when it comes to heat. I applaud you for sweating it out because I wouldn’t be able to!

There were a lot of lotus flowers & I wanted to take pictures of them, but then I’d miss out on the other pretty architecture haha. There’s something about floating flowers in water that is so irrevocably stunning, you just have to capture it like it’s a celebrity: at all angles.

Thanks for your input, Cat! I am swaying toward green too. 🙂

    Foooooooood ♥.♥
    That Jalapeno, come to mama!
I’m also a bit whiny when the topic “hot weather” comes out of the corner, like we Dutchies say. When it’s raining, we complain, when the sun’s shining brightly, we are complaining because we also forget to bring our sunglasses ALL THE TIME… at least I do haha.
I would love to visit the 626 area someday. My family is thinking about a trip to LA and other cities on the West Coast, but we’ll see how that will go.
Really look forward to the next foodie pics. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Jessy! 🙂 Prepare for the traffic if you ever make a trip to LA. I think LA would be a trillion times better if we just had better public transportation. This city has so much to offer, but OMG THE TRAFFIC IS SO STUPID I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE CAN SAY IT’S THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD, LIKE COME ON PEOPLE, ARE YOU ESTUPIDO??? I love rain! I like weather in general, besides heat. I just can’t deal with it, I’m awfully annoying when it comes to heat. -_- I love the Netherlands though. We should just trade. 😀

Is the traffic really that bad?!
WE DEFINITELY SHOULD TRADE haha! You’ll have snow in the winter months and it can be up to 37 degrees Celsius here during the summer. So you will definitely enjoy the variety of the weather I hope haha.
If only the school system in the US was the same as in the Netherlands, I wouldn’t hesitate to go to LA by the next flight of the day 🙂

Girl, it’s atrocious, but it’s not as bad as China’s current 3-day traffic jam. In Southern California, we joke around about the 405 being the world’s largest parking lot because it’s just the worst interstate. It will get you from San Diego all the way up to North LA, so it’s just a clustercrap of people on the road, commuting to work. If only we had better public transportation & were more bike friendly.

Bahhhh that’s kind of tooooo hot for me to handle, but I do love snow!! The air in the Netherlands is just so much more crisp & clean! I love it. Adopt me. Kidding!

Aw Jessy!! That’s so sweet of you. Thank you so much! TB has never been nominated for any type of award before. I’ll be sure to check out the details by the end of this week (I have a final on Friday). I briefly saw the adorable banner you have on your post! Thank you again. It really means a lot to me, even if this award is kind of like chain mail awards haha, I appreciate the recognition! 😀

Lol you’re melting from 25 s!? kamown kamown, come here and you’ll be living throughout 30 degrees and above every day~ lol your body will no longer cry, it will spout like a fountain 🙂 but psst, i’m like you too, i can’t survive beyond 25 degrees, that’s why i stay indoors with AC most of the time. i’m a snowman in disguise and i’d love to have and experience autumn and winter yes please. (in my mind, summer is only kewl in japan because i mean- look at those japanese summer dramas or anime 😛 jk)

*cries at the mandarin noodles* i hate you. i haven’t had noodles since idk when because i ban myself from it. sobs.

i really wonder about how messed up the settings of your camera was before you edited the photographs of the farmers’ market like..did you do MAJOR edits on them because if not then well you still take good pictures despite the wrong settings. (uh did i just say those without indirectly insulting your shots because uh truly, IDIDN’TMEANTO *hides*) lol forgive my anxiety and odd paranoia.
i think my favorite album has got to be the 626 night market 🙂 i can almost hear music or something just by seeing them 😛

i don’t even know why i’m looking through your food photographs in the middle of the night because daaaaammmmnnnnn they reek of evil :((

p.s: have you ever did a tiffany blue color layout? if yeah then go for mint green~ green is refreshing 😉

Yeahhh I’m a baby when it comes to heat. It’s really pathetic.

Daw you should treat yourself every once & a while to some noodles. Yes, they’re carb loaded, but once in a while isn’t so bad. Just so long as you don’t eat them every day, you should be okay. I mean, even if you did, it would be fine too!! If you get all of the other nutrients you need & you work out, you are satisfying your belly & keeping your body in shape.

I haven’t had a Tiffany Blue layout before on TB. I have had several Tiffany Blue palettes on my other website, but not this one. So, as per suggestion, mint green it is! 🙂

Hahaha my problem with a lot of my pictures exists with lighting. Yes, sometimes the pictures are blurry, but it’s mostly lighting that I have problems with. I over exposed the pictures because my aperture was too big & my shutter wasn’t fast enough, so I did heavily edit the pictures so that they wouldn’t look as exposed & more filtered. Don’t worry, you didn’t offend me!! I’m hard to offend. I don’t take things personally & even if you called me a snotty little wanker, I’d probably laugh.

Yummmmmmmm. Asian food happens to be my favorite too. I love street food, try a little bit here, a little bit there. It’s like heaven. Don’t worry, I think you have a very healthy mix of food and people photos here.

As for the colour change, I vote Tiffany blue! 🙂 Because it’s your name and that’s pretty cute and I’ve always had a soft spot for that colour.

I love street food!!! I love Tiffany Blue as well, but alas, I have gone for mint green. I may do a Tiffany Blue color next year or in the next 2 years. I’m slow.

Sounds like a FUNtastic weekend with food and great places just to hang with folks. I’ve never visited LA before, but it’s nice to see a more insider view of what the city’s like and how eventful things can get. 🙂

As for your layout, I like the idea of minty green simply because I like green. Although I like blue better, I am more excited to see green-themed layouts because they’re so rare by comparison. Have you began coding the basics or are you waiting until after you finish with the graphics first?

LA would be better if we had a more efficient public transportation system that could get us to one neighborhood to another. Then it’d be even bettaaa!

I’ve only made a green layout maybe 2 or 3 times in my life so it’s definitely a change & I went with it!

I’ve always made the design first & then coded it afterward. It makes more sense to me to code afterward because the color scheme I use is lifted directly from the banner’s color palette. The coding is pretty much my past layout, with some color changes. Nothing heavily lifted (toooo lazy for that).

The mandarin noodles look sooo good! I can tell it is probably the perfect seasoning and texture from the photo lol! *nerd self*

Getty Villa looks absolutely beautiful! Glad your weekends have been chill and fun!!

It sounds like you’ve been having a great time!

I can’t cope with really hot weather either – though the temperature where I am has gone down a lot recently and now I’m complaining that it’s too cold haha.

The market sounds great! I love seeing lots of different stalls with unique items – it’s so much more interesting than going to big stores I’ve seen a thousand times before. The food looks great too.

For the layout colour I’d choose mint green for something different. But either would be nice.

    xx

Haha we’re such finicky creatures, it’s silly. I do prefer the cold weather though. I like snuggling up in huge jackets sipping on hot tea!

I like food vendors with all sorts of different unique items too. Try something new & possibly get a stomach ache OR just eat same old Subway. You decide! What makes for a better or rather, interesting experience & story? The former I would think!

Thanks for your input, Amy! It is now mint green. 🙂
