Cheers to a Refreshing New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you! My last activity around these parts was more than a month ago & the only explanation is that I was pulled into a blackhole called Netflix, sucking up all of my free time. Blog or watch the next episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Just one more…episode…curse you, poor self-control!!! I’m not going to make a New Year’s Resolution list because I always break them & forget them, so I’ll just actively try to control my Netflix binging habits & place myself in a type of productivity rehab. Let’s begin with the first step towards a fresh start: a juice with detoxing properties. I’m not a medical professional (yet) nor am I a nutritionist, so I highly encourage you to use some common sense & do your own research. I’m just some person with a blog, so…yeah, don’t cite me, bro. I call this juice the Sweet Beet Zinger & it’s a great first drink in the morning after a night of partying too hard. But if you partied too hard, get yourself some water to rehydrate & a great meal packed with protein, amino acids, & vitamins.

Please remember that my recipes are mostly guides more than exact formulae, so if you don’t like celery, use another green leafy plant such as kale, spinach, romaine, etc. Ginger really gives this juice the zing you need to start off your morning & it’s great for your digestion. If you want an extra zing, try adding cayenne or turmeric to your juice! No juicer? No problem. Make this into a smoothie & add 1/2 cup of unsweetened iced green tea or coconut juice. Be sure to cut up the beets really well!

What’s your ultimate hangover cure? I can tell you mine isn’t just juice, but noodles. Oodles of noodles. ?

Happy New Year, Tiff! I wish you all the best in 2016! ^^

I had to laugh a bit at how you were sucked into the Netflix hole, but that’s fine! Perhaps it’s the winter months that’s also helping you want to just stay indoors and binge-watch TV shows and films. I’ve been binge-reading myself (well, more than usual, haha!), so even my own blogging has been less productive than usual.

Anyway, that juice sounds like it’s definitely a zinger with the the kick of the ginger! And I can definitely see cayenne also adding a kick, but turmeric? Maybe it’s because I’ve not found any good ones, but turmeric doesn’t seem to have much of a flavour for me O_o; I always thought it was used in cooking more for the colour. Huh. Maybe I should pay more attention and discern turmeric and its flavour.

As for my own hangover remedy . . . I don’t get hangovers often, so I’ve not figured out my remedy, but I can say that I just nurse myself in my bed with water LOL

It took me a while to get into Agents of Shield but I don’t mind it now. I could do with less Hydra stuff though.

I haven’t been hungover in a long while now but when I am my go to is always something deliciously fatty and greasy like a burger and chips and plenty of water.. but mostly the burger πŸ˜€

Yes NOODLES. I second you on that. Hot soup makes me feel mega good. I feel refreshed if I go for a quiet walk among a lot of trees, too, not in polluted city hell. πŸ™‚ It’s peaceful to the mind.

    Happy New Year Tiff! πŸ˜€

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – I started watching it when it first came out but there were too many other shows I wanted to watch… so I ended up shelving this one. I heard it’s getting super good now!! Oh yes, Noodles is ALWAYS the best remedy to a hangover. I always plan to get a bowl of noodle soup after a hard night for the hubby lol

Pho and ramen are my go-to cures for hangover. AMAZING. Thanks for the recipe. I love trying out new drinks.
