The Beginning of Spring

April 1, 2013 // Posted in Drinks I Drank, Food I Ate, Gallery, Photo Journal

Chai Latte from Makai

The late UCLA basketball Coach & legend John Wooden once said to, “make everyday your masterpiece,” & if I could pick one day out of my Spring Break that I’d call my masterpiece, it’d probably be Saturday. I awoke early enough to get dressed, grab some poke for Kevin & myself, drove to Long Beach to meet up my friends Kristin & Tempest, had amazing dinner with Vy in Newport Beach, & then drove us to Hollywood to go to PURE nightclub.

Kristin & Tempest

My overall Spring Break was very relaxed, so Saturday was not only eventful from 12 PM until 3 AM Sunday, it was really enjoyable because I got to spend time with my favorite people. Can’t complain about meeting new people, new experiences, amazing food, & good company!

Omakase from Kitayama

Now it’s back to the grind with a new quarter in session & just 11 weeks until I graduate. It’s a bit surreal, but I’m really looking forward to proving to myself that I deserve to graduate from such a prestigious university with a Bachelors of Science. To a new quarter & a new chapter! This time around, …I’ll be doing the ass-kicking, not the finals.

Yeeep. It goes by so quickly. I miss you!! I may be in London again this October!

After I graduate, I’m going to be prepping for the standardized test we have to take if we want to get into medical school. I’m also hoping to complete my research project with my adviser. Have a great break!!

Hi! Thanks for your comment! And good luck with your finals! Yes, kick their asses! And good luck on your MCATs! I was pre-med, but I didn’t get accepted into medical school so I decided to go for a PhD instead. If you want to ask questions about the application process, I can probably help, but I can’t help you on interviews cause I failed them all (or well, I can tell you what NOT to do …. )

I’m actually starting graduate school at UCI in the Fall! Not exactly UCLA, it’s kinda nearby… but it’s a new area to me so I’ll look forward to hearing about how cool the life is over in California!

Yikes! I’m sorry to hear that. 🙁 But I hope that you will find that doing a PhD is right for you & that you regret nothingggg. My mom graduated from UCI & half of my friends go to UCI. It’s a great school! Not much to do around Irvine though, probably the most boring city in SoCal, but tons of fun things to do in the surrounding neighborhoods. Hope you enjoy your time here!

You went to Long Beach then to Newport and then back up to Hollywood?! GodDayum, you were all over the place! I’m glad you had fun. Nothing is better than to be in good company with good food.

Dood, you’re eventually going to graduate with a B.A. in Science from UCLA. You are practically every Asian parent’s dream daughter. Keep working hard. 🙂

Yeaaaahh it was quite a weekend!

I’m graduating with a B.S. in Anthropology to be precise haha. The work to graduate with a B.A. is … well, let’s just say it’s a lot less stressful than the requirements for a B.S., but…ahhhh, the things that are expected of you from medical schools. If I graduated magna cum laude, then I’d be every Asian parents’ dream!!

I’m glad you had a good Spring Break! The food from Kitayama looks delicious. I love places with the tapa style, so that you can order a variety of things. Congrats on graduating soon too! I hope everything goes well this quarter!

Thanks Cat! Yeah, since it was omakase, everything came out really great. But it’s a sushi restaurant, so normally you’d just get sushi unless you sit at the bar! 😀

Congratulations on having an awesome spring break! That sounds very eventful! I just sat around not doing crap all day. :/ Lol that’s life though.

Congrats on almost getting your degree as well. That has to be surreal! I know having an associate’s (or being 1 or 2 classes off of having an associate’s) is surreal….I can’t even believe it.

Thanks Erin! Aw well it’s really great to actually just have a day where you don’t have to take care of anything & just be lazy. We can all use one of those days.

Thank you, Cami! I don’t think I’ll be having an awesome after-party though. Too much work & planning! Although you best believe there’ll be a large celebration after I graduate from medical school. It’ll be a momentous, “HECK YES FINALLY!!” moment. 😀

That omakase looks sew gewd. Your photos always make me jealous girl! Mzmzmmzzz.

Also just a random note, thinking of moving my photoblog or cleaning up old posts because I almost feel like starting fresh… or something. There’s just a lot of old crap I’d rather delete and older photos that I idiotically resized to 500px. And I’m not too keen on reuploading anything. It’s so tempting to just start over or to simply delete what I’m not happy with. Not really sure but I was also wondering if you had an opinion on it? 🙂

Thanksss girllll! I miss you! Our birthdays are coming up. Woooooo. 😀 Have anything planned?

Onto your photoblog business. Here are my two cents:

-Don’t move it; takes too much time/work/effort, you’ve got better things to do
-Delete/clean-up old posts you don’t care for anymore. (I know that feel, girl. I wish I always saved my pictures as 780 x 517…because 600 by whatever was still tiny!!)
-Do what makes you happy! So I think you should delete whatever you’re not happy with. I snoop around my own site to fix any coding errors & what not. Also, it’s quite interesting to see how we’ve documented our lives in the past.

Hope this was somewhat helpful. I’m always around for you to e-mail if you want some constructive criticism! 🙂
