YAY a filler post!! You know you’re totally not bothered by this because it’s ad-free music I made to make you happy. I’ve been so caught up with school & work that I’ve been neglecting TB & everyone I normally interweb stalk. It’s not you, I promise, it’s just me & life. So, please enjoy this fun, slightly nostalgic, synth-pop-whatever playlist of fantastic vocals & upbeat tempos. & of course I had to include Lana Del Rey remixes because YAAAS QUEEEEN. Shut up. π
I wanted to get back into the swing of things by creating a massive amount of queued posts throughout July & August because I’ll be away on holiday. My family & I are going to Thailand for fun & then we’ll be joining MEMO–an amazing nonprofit organization aimed to help the underprivileged in developing countries–in Vietnam. I’m so incredibly excited to visit Thailand for the first time & also thrilled to visit Vietnam again (& for a good cause too!). The first time I went, I was 12 & absolutely hated it–mostly due to the company (or more like an individual jerk/bully)–which, formulated my negative perception of the country. But I’ll never forget how delicious the food was, although I think Southern California’s pho is better than the bowls I had in Vietnam. I’m now nearly a whole decade & a half older than I was when I visited Vietnam, so my mind is wide open to enjoy the nature & beauty of the country. Prepare your browser for massive amounts of pictures in 2 months, you guys. It’s going to be awesome. Thailand & Vietnam might not hold any records for having the world’s fastest bullet trains or the cleanest cities, but I think both countries are underrated holiday destinations. Although, Vietnam holds the record for the largest underground cave. In fact, it’s own forest & wildlife. You bet your bottom there’ll be a bunch of food pictures & YOU WILL ENJOY IT BECAUSE FOOD IS ART. CAPS LOCK. 📷🍜 In all seriousness, I really look forward to visiting the Motherland & helping those who desperately need aid. I was going to make a joke about running amongst my peeplz, but all humans, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual preference are my peeplz. We are all human & we’re all animals made of stardust. 🌠β¨💫
Tell me all about your summer vacation plans or where you wish you could revisit or plan on visiting one day! Also, tell me what you think of the playlist. It’s okay if it’s not your jams, you’re wrong. Just kidding, to each their own!
Alice
oh man, I’d like to apologize for not checking in as much as I used to. I’ve been so dazed and exhausted with real life lately, sigh. but please do realize that I appreciate all your photographs and food related posts because I think I’d be repeating the same comment on every post since my reaction’s basically nothing but: “tiff, stop with your amazing photographs! and uggh why are you such a great chef…” and then i’ll cry because i’m drooling across the screen TAT
wow, if only my family and i end up going to thailand this month or next… maybe i can accidentally see you there! LOL
but nah, i’m not in the mood to go anywhere – haha, surprise, despite me enjoying traveling. i guess i just want to be as lazy as possible at home, in my room, playing video games.
Tiff
Don’t worry about it, Alice! I’m not concerned with whether or not you’ve read all my posts & left me comments for them. I appreciate it when anyone takes the time to read through my blog/listen to the music I put together & leave me a comment. I don’t judge those who don’t because they’re busy! Pft.
When I was your age, I also always wanted to just be at home, even though I liked traveling. Actually, I still feel that way sometimes, but right now especially. I think I only feel that way about traveling to places I wouldn’t imagine living in though, so if I traveled to London or Paris or Amsterdam, I wouldn’t want to go home haha. But, sometimes you just have to force yourself to go explore outside. Do it for the pics! Do it now before you just don’t have anymore free time in your life. Your video games will always be there for you, but the world outside is constantly changing.
Hope you enjoyed my mix!

I hope you have an amazing trip! Man, I haven’t been to the homeland (Vietnam, not Thailand) since I was little. I would LOVE to see that cave one day. I’ve heard that a popular vacation thing to do in Vietnam is to start in the south (or north), buy a motorcycle, take it to the north, and sell it once you get there. I don’t know if that’s actually something people do, but it would be amazing.
I’m chilling in Texas this summer – this weekend I’m visiting San Antonio, and in August I’m heading to Austin. Living up that intern life. But if all goes as planned, next summer I’ll be abroad in Italy!
Tiff
Thanks! I want to see that cave too, except it costs $$$$$$ & you have to book it about…a year or 2 in advance because it’s filled! Oh well, guess I’ll just have to live vicariously through other cave explorers. You also have to be pretty physically fit to actually explore the cave because getting there is no walk in the park. I’ve never heard of that popular vacation thing you described to do in Vietnam, but it would seem a bit of a burden if you had to carry all of your things on you at all times in a backpack or suitcase & ride around the country with all of your belongings. Driving anywhere in Vietnam isn’t safe…pretty dangerous & scary, so 0/10 would recommend to first time motorcyclists or anyone traveling to the country for the first time.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my mix while you’re living up that intern life. Rooting for you to study abroad in Italy!! Life changing!! Love Italy. π Also, the men. Don’t fall into that honeypot though, hah!
ongaku
That’s an awesome playlist. I’m going to have to listen to it better once I get home. β₯
I hope you have a lot of fun on your trips! Sounds exciting!
Tiff
Thank you! π

Oddly enough, I’d not consider Thailand to be an underrated vacation spot because I know so many people here that go there XD But overrated or underrated or whatever, I hope you have a BLAST in Thailand and Vietnam! I’ve never really had the urge to go there, but if I do go, it’ll be because of the FOOD. Thai food and Vietnamese food at its most authentic! *_* I look forward to seeing your food photo!
My plan is nil. Just work and hang out with friends whenever I can make time XD; I’m boring, yes, but summer doesn’t make me want to go anywhere. The heat and the humidity makes me cranky, so I think I’ll vacation when it’s cooler XD

I will be tuning in for updates on your trip. It sounds exciting! I have not been back to Vietnam since we left over 40 years ago, back when things were in a bit of turmoil. I was a child then but have since forgotten how to speak the language. And although I would like to visit Vietnam one day, it is unsettling to think that I would be a complete stranger and tourist in my native country. I know only Lana Del Rey on your listβI feel old!!
Tiff
I’m surprised you haven’t spoken Vietnamese throughout your life outside Vietnam. My parents only spoke Vietnamese to me growing up, so they didn’t teach me English, they just figured I’d learn it in school haha. My mom’s English is excellent though, so whenever I don’t know a phrase in Vietnamese, she knows what I’m taking about. You should visit the motherland one day. It’s hot, so prepare well.
As for my mix, I hope that you gave it a listen, nevertheless.

Can’t wait to hear about your trip to Thailand and Vietnam! I’m already excited by what I’ve seen on your Instagram π I think that’s awesome that you’ll be working with a nonprofit while you’re in Vietnam.
I think I was the same way when I visited China for the first time. I wasn’t a big fan, but fortunately, I’ve been able to go back 2 more times and appreciated it more. Though, I still had way more fun in Japan and totally want to go back XD Right now I’m figuring out a place to go for a friend’s bachelorette trip next month!
I haven’t listened to your playlist yet, but I plan to at work tomorrow!
Michelle
I hope you have a blast in both Thailand and Vietnam. I know one of my blog buddies( Claudine) went to Vietnam and she loved the heck out of it, in fact, I loved it too. I hope one day, I could go. Have a great trip! I can’t wait to see the pictures that you post up!
Interesting playlist. It isn’t what I normally listen to, but it isn’t half bad. I think I even enjoyed it. Pretty new layout btw! ^^
Danielle
Sounds like you’re in for an amazing experience. I have never been one for wanting to explore the world but I’ve always been interested in an missionary trip for helping the under privileged. Good for you for showing your support! Can’t wait to see pictures!
Unfortunately all of my vacations take place during the winter but that’s okay because I get a chance to get away from the snow to somewhere warmer! I would love to go back to Alabama this year.
Tiff
Other than money or work or school being a factor, why is it that you haven’t been one for wanting to explore the world? It’s such a huge place & there’s so much to see & do. So many different cultures & food to experience, so why not wander?
I think helping the underprivileged is obviously very wonderful, but I have a huge problem with missionaries that know nothing about the country or its culture that just plop down & help people, but on the condition that they have to listen to them rant about their religion or that they have to take these pamphlets on their diety. Helping people shouldn’t come with a condition or because a religion told you to. When we went to help the underprivileged in Vietnam, we weren’t there to talk about how wonderful life in America is or to convert them to any religion or to talk about a messiah, we were there to help our fellow man. I mean, if they’re religiously based, but no preaching is done, I don’t have a problem with it, but as an anthropologist, it’s a terrible thing to see another culture change their own spirituality to the likeness of their helpers. It’s important to study about a culture, their mannerisms, & what they regard as rude before jumping in to help them. It’s become a huge problem in various countries in Africa aka white savior complex. But anyway…you’re your own person, so you’re going to do what you want to do. But please, if you ever do go on a trip to another country that you’re not familiar with & you don’t know a single word of the language, please, please, please, study about their history & culture before you help them. Learn some important phrases in their language: hello, goodbye, thank you, you’re welcome, where’s the bathroom, etc.
ANYwAY, hope you enjoyed the playlist & have a good summer.
Michelle
Awesome playlist! ^^ I think it’s my favorite yet! Also, that’s awesome that you’re dedicating yourself to help others in different countries. I bet Vietnam and Thailand will be amazing experiences for you! I can feel it in my bones. My summer plans are simply enjoy summer before the fall semester starts again and I’m busy with life and with Marley’s training which is started out at Beginner. I can’t wait to begin her dog training. I only know that we will grow closer to each other. π
Tiff
It was both a miserable & wonderful experience being in Vietnam to volunteer. Thailand was really hot, but it was mostly a great experience! Factoring out the humidity & heat, I want to return to Thailand to see more!
I wish you the very best with Marley’s training! Can’t be easy to train a dog, but well worth it, especially as you mentioned, you’ll really bond with your dog. I want a puppy! π When things get really rough in school, just take Marley out for a walk & play with her for a bit. Immediate stress reliever & you get some fresh air & exercise too (stimulating endorphins, which reduces stress).
Thank you for listening to my playlist!! I’m so glad you liked it. π It’s one of my favorites too.
Amanda
Hope you have a great time in Thailand and Vietnam! I have a friend from HS that’s volunteering through MEMO too! Hey, maybe you met her. Small world!
I haven’t been back to Vietnam since I was 8 and I pretty much went with back then with the same mentality you had. I wish I could go back now to (hopefully) change what I think about Vietnam! Hope your trip is going well right now π
Tiff
What a small world! My cousin whom I haven’t seen in years is dating someone I went on the MEMO trip with, so whoever your HS friend is, I definitely met her. π
I still hate Vietnam’s weather, but I’d go again to see the beaches & caves. I was pretty miserable there & there were many times when I exclaimed I hated the country (mosquitos ate me alive, it was so humid & hot, western toilets are really rare, food poisoning is going get you at any corner, etc), but I’m glad I went. Quite an experience.
