Foodie Fridays: Bangkok + Chiang Mai

February 10, 2017 // Posted in Food I Ate, Foodie Fridays, Gallery, Photo Journal, Travel

February 10, 2017 | Posted in [post_category]

Cool fun fact: I was going to combine a huge travel dump of photos from Thailand & Vietnam, but decided it’s too overwhelming. Besides, I can break up my trip into 3 different posts, thereby making it seem like I’m suuUUuuper active, but I just scheduled the posts ahead of time. I didn’t realize how many food photos I actually took in Thailand.

So, I was enrolled in an Emergency Medical Services classes at Boston University for a hot minute & since the classes were so long & I have the attention span of Dory in a classroom setting, I finally ended up editing all of my photos from two summers ago (!!!! – I’m the worst) & last October’s trip to Maine. DROPPED that class – too busy with work & other shenanigans. Probably will retake it in the summer when I’m not as busy. Would be fascinating to ride in an ambulance. It’s too bad the experience won’t be anything like Sirens. That show was hilarious, RIP. Anyway, my family & I went on an amazing trip to Thailand & Vietnam for nearly a month. We vacationed first & then volunteered with MEMO to help out our peoplez. Tears were definitely shed & so many of us got food poisoning, but it was all worth it. Literally shed our blood, sweat, & tears helping the underprivileged in Vietnam. You can scroll down to see my travel photos, but otherwise, here’s a massive food photos dump featuring some of the best eats from Thailand & Vietnam!

Okay, time to shut up: IT’S SLOBBERING TIME. I can’t believe I just made a Marvel pun. What is wrong with me. Puns are the worst form of humor. Halp me.

makes me miss bangkok. i only stayed there during a trip for 2 days so i didn’t get the chance to explore a lot.
still, i’m glad i ate mango and sticky rice because it was so damn good i craved sticky rice the moment i went back home.
all of these looks really amazing! i remember going to bangkok and at 9pm, people were still enjoying street food and i’m not talking about snacks, i’m talking about proper meal, with rice and tomyum and seafood, etc. that was in chinatown, iirc.

my favorite thai food is definitely pad thai and probably the pineapple fried rice very basic, huh. is it weird that i don’t really like tom yum?

Love mango & sticky rice!! 🙂 Is that weird to you? To eat that late? Because we (my family & myself) do it all the time haha. Late night dining, while unhealthy, is very common for us. I mean, 24 hour diners exist for a reason! 😀

Everyone has different tastes! I love tom yum. It does have a very strong lemongrass flavor that might be off putting to you though! Or the various spices & tartness.

The food looks amazing. It’s nice that you went and helped the less fortunate. I really wish in the future I will do something like that. I would love to make a huge contribution to the world.

I am so sorry that you got food poisoning, but if it was worth it, then it’s acceptable ^^.

    Have a nice day <3

Hi Cristina! I hope one day you will also get the opportunity to help the less fortunate. You can start this weekend or next though, so the future doesn’t seem that far away. Just look up some volunteer groups in your community who are always looking for new volunteers whether it’s reading to children in a library, basic tutoring, or feeding the homeless!

The food poisoning was totally not worth it, especially since it lasted a good 4-5 days & my stomach was in so much pain, but it was an experience!

I think it’s great you visited there to help the less fortunate. Sucks to hear about the food poisoning thing, though. That’s gotta be the pits! I am surprise to see it lasted that long!

Oh my yum at all the Thai food!!!! Your photos are definitely making me hungry! I love red curry and khao pad kra prao. I also love pad khee mao. If I ever visit Thailand, it will definitely be for the food. I am now hungry for some Thai food, and it’s after 11 pm!

Other than the food poisoning, that looks like a great trip and that’s super awesome that you volunteered with MEMO! I love looking at your food and vacation photos. All of the dishes look delicious. I guess I don’t have Thai food often enough to think that the cuisine isn’t as diverse. I ran into a similar problem when I went to China. I got sooo tired of Chinese food by the end of it. I think my favorite Thai dishes are the curries though, especially yellow curry!

You saw some really beautiful scenery! So cool how you rode on a bamboo boat and were you on elephants?? Ahh what a cool experience!
