Cloudburst

  1. “Never Gonna Change” by Broods
  2. “Mirrored Sea” by Passion Pit
  3. “Lazy Eye (Jason Bentley Remix)” by Silversun Pickups
  4. “Strangers In The Wind” by Cut Copy
  5. “Silk (Ianborg Remix)” by Giselle
  6. “Recover (Cid Rim Remix)” by Chvrches
  7. “Velvet Elvis (Crystal Fighters Remix)” by Alex Winston
  8. “Sometimes (Gloves Extended Mix)” by Miami Horror
  9. “Flashlight” by Ellie Goulding
  10. “Black Room Boy” by Above & Beyond
  11. “Into the Past” by Nero
  12. “Applause (Empire of the Sun Remix)” by Lady GaGa

Cloudburst is the second mix I put together for my ongoing filler series: Musical Mondays! This mix is much more upbeat than the last one, but not too progressive. This mix is great for background music while you search the internet, play video games, or walking to school. Each mix has its own theme & this mix’s theme is upbeat electro. I hope those that like the genres I drew from will like this mix. I’ve gotten some positive feedback from a few friends, so here’s to hoping it’s also your cup of tea. I annoyingly put it on “autoplay” since most people don’t click things I link like my videos, so now y’all can be annoyed with this mysterious palatable music seeping from your speakers until you figure out it’s because of me. Sorry, not sorry.

Summer Recipes

Since mostly everyone’s favorite season is approaching on this side of the hemisphere, I added a nice California Strawberry Summer Salad recipe that goes really well with a fruity balsamic vinaigrette or any light vinaigrette. California is known for its avocados & strawberries in addition to various produce, but these two make a surprisingly nice combination. More recipes you say? Here’s an easy one, perfect for all you college students out there that need a quick fix.

A quick & easy prep of somen will only take about 10 minutes & has the potential to fill you up with its noodle-y goodness. I’d recommend dipping the somen rather than pouring the ponzu sauce over the noodles because it’ll allow you to eat slower & get full. If you’re in a rush, by all means, dump that sauce on there! Somen is traditionally served cold, making it perfect for the summer. If you prefer your food hot, no one is stopping you from consuming it that way.

What are your summer favorites?

I like how your playlist consists of songs that are soft and play smoothly in the background. The strawberry summer salad and somen look delicious! Your pictures of food always look amazing. The salad is definitely an easy mix for anyone who’s lazy to make food and/or want something healthy to eat. I like the twist when noodles don’t need to be in soup to be consumed. Chow mein doesn’t have soup, but it’s unhealthy with the amount of grease and stuff.

My summer favorites… Shaved ice cream because it’s “fluffy” and doesn’t make my mouth feel weird because I always let the ice cream melt in my mouth 🙂

Thanks! That was definitely what I was going for, but upbeat.

As for my pictures, it’s taken me quite some time to actively try to improve my food photography, so I appreciate your comment. Lots of inspiration, cookbooks, food styling instagrams, & what not have surely helped. These pictures are actually a year old (hahhhh) so they’re not very recent. Better food pics soon!

Mmmm shaved ice…..is great! It makes me uncomfortable thinking about the colored high fructose corn syrup that’s poured over it, so I like the Asian takes on shaved ice with fruits & other flavorings.

Loving this mix! I’m playing it now as I catch up on blogging and it’s perfect! Plus I’m finding out about some artists that I’ve never heard of before! Also, I like the recipes this week. The salad looks yummy!

My summer favorite is a Magnum ice cream. <3 Loving the mix! Listening to it right now as I work. And the California Summer Salad looks really tasty! There are no strawberries here in Larena though, or even in Dumaguete my hometown. The nearest strawberry farm is a ferry ride, 55-minute flight and a 7-hour bus drive away from here. :/

Oh wow, that’s quite an adventure just for some red berries! That’s okay though. You can always substitute the berries with another sweet fruit you have available to you.

Thank you! I’m glad you like the mix. 🙂

I already see a few artists I like on the list, so I think I’m going to like this mix 🙂 This is the type of music I tend to listen to when it’s a stressful day at work.

I love the bright color of strawberries on a salad! (The recipe link to it is broken though.) I actually don’t think I’ve ever had somen. It does look good for a nice summer day!

Summer always reminds me of grilling, so I start craving those types of food 🙂

Thanks so much for pointing that out, Cat! I normally check if my links work & that was a noob mistake!

Hoping you’ll like the mix! I like it better than my first one hahaha. It’s been so hot here lately that I think I’ll have to make myself some cold noodles. Somen is one of those underrated noodle dishes, not nearly as celebrated as its cousin ramen, soba, or udon. I don’t think I’ve actually seen it on a menu before either haha.

      Big Texas grilling!

I love the Music Monday idea! I was thinking of doing something similar when I had more time to blog in the future. Blogging for me has been really slow. I’ve noticed that you’ve been blogging on a more consistent basis lately though. How do you do it? 😛 Especially since you’re making content for your site (the recipes :D)

I can’t wait to try that strawberry salad. It looks delicious 😀

Did you listen to the mix? You tend to save the videos & other songs I post for “later”, but even I know “later” means “never” hahaha.

Told you this before on how I post more often: make a lot of posts in one day, schedule them throughout the week/month. Life saver. Except…..I’m all out of posts right now so I need to make more posts soon. Scheduling posts ahead of time is how you stay ahead of your game haha. Otherwise, I’d never be away from my computer!

I actually listened to the playlist! It’s great for homework background music in my opinion. I’m not the biggest Electronic music but I actually liked a lot of these. It’s a great mix!

And, I’ve tried doing the scheduling posts way ahead of time… it’s tough though. I have a million topics in my head but it takes me awhile to write a blog/get the pictures ready/etc. It also depends on what’s been happening/what I’ve encountered. Life’s always in flux so sometimes, it just doesn’t seem like relevant content by the time I’m ready to post it? Does that make any sense. xD

The mix is wonderful, and the food looks delicious too. <3 My summer favorites have to be watermelon, slushies, and finally froyo. Summer is perfect for them.

Thank you! Those are also my favorites as well, although slushies I can’t handle because I feel like they’re diabetes brain freeze in a cup!
