Last Christmas, I posted a DIY tutorial on how to make your own holiday diffuser. While you can get creative with all the different combinations of essential oils there are on the market, it’s also perfectly okay with just keeping it simple; even though I like to add 10 different essential oils into my diffuser, a simple mixture of 2 or 3 different scents will do the trick. A simple diffuser with some twig reeds will tie together a really nice rustic look for your bathroom or living room. Spruce up your bathroom with any of these recipes & you’ll always have a nicely scented & decorated bathroom. Channeling a bit of fall scents, these recipes add an air of spice to crisp & fresh scents. Want more autumn in your diffusers? Add cinnamon or clove essential oils!

It’s been a little dead ’round these parts lately, so I think it’s the perfect opportunity to run a giveaway I planned earlier this year. I’m getting the hang of cold process soap making & I eventually want to go to market with these soap bars I’m making, so what better way to debut them than to send it to a random stranger who won them by luck? I’ll also toss in a free domain & a year’s hosting to make the package all that much sweeter. To add a cherry on top of that, I’ll even toss a few of my favorite sweet treats from Trader Joe’s & a room spray with your choice scent if you’ve had more interaction with me than just entering the contest!
While giveaways are great to promote your website, I also want to reward my readers. So, come for the giveaway, stay for the recipes. This giveaway is open worldwide & anyone can participate. I would much rather have someone who always leaves me comments win over a random person who has never talked to me & will probably never talk to me afterward, win. But it doesn’t always work that way, so take a chance. If you’re already following me on social media, you can still get those points because you’re already awesome. After the jump, check out what else you might win!

This post might be kind of annoying because it’s not a straight forward recipe sharing post, but a review for some products Influenster sent me. I know, I know – I’m sorry if you hate these, but I promise I have a recipe for you, it’s just not edible. 😛 So, I’m all about organic & natural products for numerous environmental, ecological, & socioeconomic reasons, but I’m also annoyingly sensitive to certain chemicals, which I inherited from my mom. Mom can’t tolerate a lot of cheaper end products because of the low quality, chemical laden ingredients they use as filler, which causes her to break out in hives. I’ve also found that none of those really cheap face scrubs or washes particularly work for me. In fact, I believe they cause me to break out even more or leave my skin really dry. My body is maddeningly posh. While I probably couldn’t taste the difference between a 4x distilled vodka versus a “premium” 7x distilled vodka, my body can & it’ll do so in the form of whether or not I get a hangover. My ears? Listen, if I even try to wear anything that isn’t real gold, silver, or platinum, I’ll develop an infection. Pus is gross, y’all. It’s literally irritating. I’m not proud of these things, trust me; I’d happily purchase affordable earrings made with whatever metallic concoction in troves, but my body is annoyingly sensitive. It’s a diva, I really can’t help it if I wanted to. I didn’t ask for this!!

There’s a perfectly good explanation for my absence & the belatedness of this Ma Belle Vie / A Day in the Life post: I was in Bogotá, Colombia for a gorgeous destination wedding. Those pictures may actually appear in the gallery before any of my previous photos from the holidays of 2014. DAVIDsTEA ran a really fun promotion on St. Patrick’s Day, which meant its downtown location was really packed. Can you guess what got so many people jammed into the store? Free tea if you’re wearing green. The line was out the door & people were stoked about getting free teas just for wearing a bit of green. It didn’t matter if the customers were homeless, foreigners, non-tea drinkers, long time customers, or randoms strangely demanding for “regular tea”–we carry over 150 teas, so what in the world is “regular” tea??–we served them all! Hot or iced, sweetened or unsweetened, free teas were served. The best part of my job is talking about tea & showing people that it can be for everyone, you just have to give it a chance.

Happy Christmas to all of you observing it & a very, very happy holidays to those of you who aren’t. The holidays make December one of my favorite months, especially because Christmas is the perfect excuse for my entire family & close friends to gather around over a huge feast & partake in gift-giving. Seeing my huge family during the holidays makes the day so enjoyable & something I look forward to every year. The food, the company, the drinks, the scents, the desserts, & the fun, there’s so much sensory overload, how can you not be overwhelmed with joy? Speaking of senses, did you know that scent is one of our 5 senses that is closely tied with memory? I’m sure most of you already know that, so let’s drive this point even further: Holiday Diffusers. Make your home smell exactly like the happy holidays with essential oils, vodka (or rubbing alcohol), a glass bottle, & diffuser reeds.
